Scars are marks left on the surface of the skin of the face or body after an injury or a surgery. In case the wound healing process results to incomplete repair, scars may occur, which either create deformities or are aesthetically distressing.
Thus, a scar can become hypertrophic (thick), but without exceeding the original wound margins. It may also become keloid, meaning that it can exceed the original wound margins, be larger in size than a hypertrophic scar, and have a more intense red color.
The use of laser therapies can both treat them and regenerate the skin in the treated area.
It may take several sessions to achieve the desired result, but the treatment is individualized so as to meet each patient’s needs.
In the majority of cases, we achieve good clinical results and scars show signs of improvement even from the first sessions. After the treatment, the thickness and color of the scar show visible improvement, perfecting the overall skin imperfections. The results of each treatment may vary from person to person.
