Mid-Face Lift

The Mid-Face Lift is the surgical approach of the mid-face area that involves the triangle defined by the inner and outer corners of the eye and the corner of the mouth.

First signs of facial ageing appear in that area, with lower eyelid skin becoming wrinkled and fat bags under the eyes becoming prominent. As a result, the face loses its harmonic unity and contour, while naso-labial lines make the area appear heavy and tired.

The Mid-Face Lift, also known as “Star Lift”, since it is very popular among Hollywood stars, is mainly recommended to patients who want a more rejuvenated, smoother and younger appearance. The face becomes rejuvenated and the scars are nearly invisible.

Technique

The Mid-Face Lift technique involves a tiny incision just below the lower eyelid lashes and restores tissues with special sutures. Removal of excess skin is performed only if necessary. The operation should be carried out at a clinic or a hospital.

What to expect after surgery

  • During the first days following surgery, staying at home is recommended. You should also try eating soft food, staying calm and keeping your face hydrated.
  • You should expect bruising and swelling within the first days after surgery, which will gradually subside after 7-10 days.

Risks and Side Effects

The only complication includes a lower eyelid ectropion, which requires surgical intervention.

Useful Information

  • The Mid-Face Lift can also be combined with other surgical procedures, such as a blepharoplasty.
  • The pain is usually minimal and easily controlled with painkillers.
  • The sutures will gradually be removed within two weeks after surgery to minimize scarring.
  • Good skin quality helps post-operatively and contributes significantly to the final result. Patients with very dehydrated skin before surgery can improve overall skin quality by increasing hydration with facial and laser treatments.
  • Quitting smoking 1-2 weeks before and after your surgery helps achieve quick and proper healing.
