Sun exposure (always accompanied by sun protection) may have beneficial effects on the health of our body, however it can also leave marks on our skin known as freckles.
When we expose ourselves to the sun, the production of melanocytes increases, which can lead to melanin hypersecretion. Thus, these dark spots appear on the skin, which usually multiply and increase over time.
Apart from ultraviolet sunlight, other factors that contribute to the formation of freckles are: genetic predisposition, pregnancy, hormonal disorders, medication, etc.
Freckles appear mainly on the face, but can also be seen on the palms, neck, chest, shoulders and back.
